The Harvard National Security & Law Association (NSLA) brings together Harvard Law School students interested in national security.
To inspire national security discussions on campus, we organize events with practitioners and academics. Over the last few years, we’ve welcomed leaders from the national security sector including former CIA director General (ret.) David Petraeus, former Secretary of Defense General (ret.) James Mattis, Assistant Attorney General for National Security Matthew Olsen, Under Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, New York Times journalist David Sanger, Yale Law School Professor Oona Hathaway, and former Mozilla Chief Legal Officer Amy Keating.
In addition to hosting events, NSLA strives to be an academic and professional resource for HLS students. We offer guidance to our members on careers, academics, and networking opportunities. NSLA also serves as a hub for HLS alums seeking to connect with one another and with current students.
NSLA defines national security broadly and includes topics such as counterterrorism, climate change, international finance, and cybersecurity, to name but a few. Pursuant to our constitution and bylaws, we’re nonpartisan and welcome people of all backgrounds and viewpoints.
NSLA’s only requirement for membership is subscription to our mailing list. To get involved or have any of your questions answered, please feel free to contact us. Or, just scroll down to subscribe to our mailing list.
